01What each model actually optimizes for

Traditional SEO optimizes a page to match a string. Semantic SEO optimizes a page (and a site) to represent a topic completely enough that a retrieval system can treat it as a trustworthy source.

Those sound similar until you look at what each one measures success by, and what it tells you to do next when a page underperforms.

The semantic page isn’t longer for the sake of it — every added section answers a real sub-decision a real estate agent has to make before buying. That’s the difference between padding and coverage.

03What traditional SEO still gets right

Not obsolete — semantic SEO is a content and architecture model. It doesn’t replace technical fundamentals: fast pages, clean crawlability, a real title tag, working internal links, and a site structure Google can crawl without wasting budget. Skip those and no amount of entity coverage saves you.

What’s obsolete specifically is keyword density as a ranking lever, exact-match anchor text stuffing, and building isolated pages with no relationship to the rest of the site. Those tactics don’t just underperform now — on a site that’s otherwise built semantically, they actively look like noise.
